Kirsten Lewis Photographer

I spent the last two days in Duck North Carolina with my long time friend Kirsten Lewis.  She and I have collaborated on video projects before and she was in need of some video for her new website.  We constructed a $20 green screen thanks to the local Walmart and spent the next 48 hours cranking out some video... more to come soon but here are some stills from the shoot.  In the mean time you can see some of her very talented work here.

New Searchable Video Technology

There is some new and exciting technology that makes managing and utilizing archived video easier than ever before. I am working with several clients to develop searchable video databases from their new and existing footage.  This technology is brand new and is primarily used in the documentary industry to sift through hundreds/thousands of hours of footage.  Because of my involvement with multiple large associations and corporations I saw a need for this technology to manage archived conference footage in what would otherwise be an extremely time consuming process.

The end product is a Flash video file that has the transcribed metadata embedded to make finding specific words easier than ever before!  It really is amazing and what used to take hours only takes seconds now.

AAFP National Conference video is up

The American Academy of Family Physicians and I have been working closely over the last two months to finalize a video aimed at inspiring and recruiting members for the 2011 National Conference.  I shot and edited the interviews and supplemented the footage with photos and text  to create a two minute piece.

The Rock in the Sun

Lucas Krost an alumni friend and filmmaker, is raising funds for a Kickstarter project that was inspired from his recent experience visiting Haiti... it is certainly a worthwhile cause and you can help him realize this dream for as little as a $25 contribution.

Panama Canal transit animation

A good friend of mine recently had the opportunity to transit the Panama Canal on a 70' yacht. Because of the lack of quality and refresh rate on the webcams, I took screenshots from my laptop and reassembled them in Final Cut Pro. I used about 180 photos to create the 30 second animation.

I was out at 3am to capture this shot and luckily the folks at DCist decided to include it in their gallery of the eclipse here

Project Blue Planet stop motion animation

I created this spot for FONZ (Friends of the National Zoo) to promote environmental awareness in middle school age children.  It was a lot of fun to work with the kids and everyone involved from the National Zoo.
